Wrote about this yesterday but it got erased ... Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen again ! So we started the day in Birmingham. , flew to Paris ;( with this shite airline called Air France. Breakfast on the plane consisted of a cookie with either tea, coffee or water ? Cheap bastards can't even offer me a cola !
In Paris we had to catch a flight to Munich ,found our gate and at boarding time were told that we had to go to another gate , then were shuttled out to our plane ... 20 minute flight delay :(
When we arrived in Munich , Karl was there waiting for us and we went outside to find Timo . We then drove out to Memmingen to meet Rainer to trade Karl and his bags for my gear and Kathleen's luggage . Rainer was over an hour late and when we finally made the switch we then drove to Fussen where Timos mother lives . She had prepared a nice schnitzel for us . It was so good. !!!
After dinner we drove to Peissenberg so we could play for Timos hobby league team .... Eisschlampen ! This was a huge game for them against the first place team , a loss would mean they would not have a chance at the championship . A win would put them in a great position to claim the title ! No pressure , it's only my first ever league game in Germany and yeah who am I kidding there was all kinds of pressure :) love it !
We arrive at the rink and I meet the team , as usual all eyes are on me and I am sure they are all hoping I am as good as Timo has said I am . If I play shit I know it won't be so friendly .... More pressure ? Well we get on ice and the warmup kills me , it's more like a training session and I skate away early to rest .... All the drinking in the previous days and travelling and early flights are slaughtering my body . Then the puck drops ! The Eisschlampen are a good squad and I was already warned to expect shots from everywhere . The other team had a lot of power plays as we took 8 penalties but we clearly had the better defence ! Timo scored the opening goal then we went up 3-0 going into the half (2 period game ) when I get to the bench everyone is in good spirits and Timo jinxed me by mentioning the shutout ! NOOO !
Second half starts and immediately the hockey gods take action for Timos mistake LOL. One of our defence coughs up the puck behind my net and they score a wrap around on me :( 3-1 lead now . Then I came out of my shell making huge glove saves , ref looked in the net for the puck hahaha ! Then I made a huge break away save while in the splits . The other team pressed but we replied by scoring 2 nice goals to win the game 5-1 .... Apparently the other team questioned who I was after :) it was a great win for me and for all the guys ! Of course the dressing room was hopping after with music , beer and food ! Of course my team mates wanted to know more about me and my travels after and we had a good time sharing stories . I will post pics when I get home in a couple weeks ! I hope the Eisschlampen guys the best and they better take the championship :)
After the game we drove to Feldkirch , Austria to meet the rest of our group . Daz, Rainer , Karl and a few others . I drank beer the whole ride and had a good buzz when I arrived . We all met up and Timo , Rainer and myself went to the casino to have 1 drink LOL! This was around 1 am ... Around 5 or 6 am we left the bar with 13 beers in our hands ... Went to Rainer and Timos room ... Then we heard Daz and the other Brits done the hall and joined them ... We stayed up til about 8 am and I was totally plastered !!!
As you can all see that was a super long day ... That was 3 days ago , have some catching up to do . Today is Jan 1 , 2014 happy new year to all ! If I find time I will write some more later or tonight . Cheers :)
