A couple months ago i drove a Uhaul truck out to Los Angeles , not to play hockey but i made the most of it and added my hockey element to the trip by meeting up with the founder of the Jamaican National Team . The person i drove out for was quite pleased and the word got out that i am willing to drive cross country and i was asked to drive out to the west coast again .... of course i said yes ! This time i am sticking to Canadian soil and driving all the way out to Whistler ,BC . It should be a 6 day drive but i am gonna push to make it in 5 :)
Last time i had Kathleen riding along with me booking hotels as we approached cities , she didn't love doing that and she is coming along for the ride again and decided its best to book everything beforehand .... so ... we have all our hotels booked with stops in Terrace Bay , Winnipeg , Regina , Banff then last stop is Whistler . Ok so you are all wondering if i am taking my gear? At the moment i would say no as i have no clue how packed this truck is plus its near impossible to stop in a city and get on the ice let alone plan it with such a small window of opportunity . I would need a loose schedule where i would have a day or 2 at each stop to make that a reality ... unfortunately i am on a schedule and the person at the other end would like their furniture to arrive on time :)
That all being said ... of course there is hockey involved :) I am gonna kill myself to get to Winnipeg in 2 days which should be a 3 day drive typically stopping in Sault Ste. Marie then Thundery Bay then Winnipeg ... well i am gonna pass Sault Ste. Marie by about 3 hours and hit Terrace Bay which is in the middle of nowhere then i am gonna leave really early to have time to stop in Thunder Bay to have breakfast with super Villa fan Daniel Peever then i am gonna put the pedal to the metal to get to Winnipeg in time to check in and go watch the Winnipeg Jets play the Pittsburgh Penguins :P yeah i got tickets ... they weren't cheap , setting me back about $280 for 2 tickets up in the nose bleeds . Regardless it should be a good night !
That isn't all my hockey plans , as i will be passing through Vancouver to catch my flight home . If i can catch the early Greyhound bus from Whistler to Vancouver i will make sure to stop into the Hockey-Community head office which is downtown . As you all know i am one of their ambassadors and it would be nice to stop in say hi to the guys and get some pics before heading home .... it will have to be a short stop and its not really out of the way so i am really hoping it works out ! If you don't know what Hockey-Community is then here check it out https://hockey-community.com/newsfeed sign up !!!! it's basically Facebook for hockey :) you can advertise games, tournaments ... sell gear ,keep stats ... its the complete package for hockey nuts like me :)
So i will take off in 2 days , bags are packed ... i will take my laptop for this trip so hopefully i will find the time to make a few posts along the way .
