I couldn't just bunch up a bunch of stuff about Germany , i spent too much time gong back and forth from city to city ... that being said the first night we got to Aalen we dropped Kathleen off and headed to Senden to play some hockey with the Tussa Ice Eagles . I skated with these guys a couple years ago , Ralf Dreiseitel runs the skate and when i arrived at the last second i had to rush to get on the ice ! Most of the guys remembered me from last time , some guys i kinda didn't remember as we probably did not stay in touch via facebook or anything . Meeting so many people on these trips , i have limited memory space due to so many pucks to the head LOL ! As usual i had Rainer playing against me trying to score , actually he might have scored in this one but really it didn't matter it was for fun and these guys are good at that :) After the skate a few guys wanted pics with me especially one of my readers , Anton Fetzer ... here you go Anton ! it was great meeting you , again ? like i said so many pucks hit my noggin LOL . When we get back to the room there is plenty of beer and food to go around , as usual i am not the hungriest guy after getting off ice , but i sure am thirsty ... pass the beer ! We hung around for a bit and headed back to Aalen ... did i mention how fast we were driving ?
We were in Aalen for Christmas but unfortunately the Christmas Market there was taken down on the 23rd ??? yeah it makes no sense , and it seemed as though Christmas was taken from us as we had hopes of a big rowdy party with Rainer's family . Unfortunately there was a car accident and a young child was injured and in the hospital . We were pretty oblivious to all this and it just seemed like another day , except really quiet . Those wild nights in Berlin were not happening here in Aalen , probably for the best . I was supposed to meet up with a friend there but he never came through and he wasn't the only one on this trip that made plans to meet then never bothered making contact . Its a shame when people do this but what can you do ? i am sure they had legit reasons not to contact a person that has flown thousands of miles to spend time with them and others :) I did meet up with some old friends like my favorite bar owner there , Servet :... always great to have a drink at your bar !
The real highlight of my stay in Aalen was getting on the ice . The new rink there is a mobile arena and it is smaller then it was last time but at least its indoors . The rink is poorly organized though with 1 guy taking payments , handing out rental skates and basically doing everything all alone ... they don't even have a rink guard out there so kids are skating kamikaze style all over the rink ... one poor kid did a face plant on the ice , good thing i was there to help him off the ice , nobody even noticed this happening . poor kids face opened up and i am sure he needed stitches . Saw another kid take a header into the boards pretty hard , skate blades flailing all over the place , it was kinda dangerous out there . We skated around for just over an hour , i had a good workout and it was nice to have Kathleen on the ice with me . That was Christmas Day .
We were constantly on the move and our next stop was the next day where we were heading to Birmingham to watch some Aston Villa games :) that will be rowdy and totally crazy but for now we ended our quiet stay in Aalen with good friends having a nice beer in a fancy little restaurant . Keeping as sober as possible for our early drive to Stuttgart . It seems that drinking 1 or 2 beers is still having its effect after those long crazy nights in Berlin which i keep mentioning . All in all Aalen was a nice quiet stay , hope Rainers nephew is better and it was great seeing everyone that we saw and met .
